Rates include
- Unlimited mileage.
- Full insurance but an excess of €300 is to be paid in case of
accident or damage to the car.
- VAT (tax) at 18%
- No other hidden extras except for options below.
Payment
- Cash payments are preferred, however most major credit cards
accepted.
- Credit card details from a major credit card company will be
required for security when renting a car and will need to be in
the name of the principal driver. We are unable to accept
Electron, Debit Cards, or
Master Card.
- The Credit card has to be presented at the start of the hire
as security for damages and unpaid traffic fines.
- A contract is to be signed where the customer authorises TRAC
to charge the credit card as needed.
- The estimated cost of the rental is payable at the start of
the hire.
Insurance
- Our rates include comprehensive accidental damage cover,
except for the first €300
- These excesses can be wavered for a daily payment. However €50
administrative charge applies in case of loss, theft or damage
to the car.
- This insurance and the excess waiver is invalid if the renter
intentionally causes the damage, is under the influence of drink
or drugs or uses the vehicle in a prohibited or negligent way
such as but not limited
to driving off roads or hiring to other parties.
- Negligence connected with the theft of the vehicle may lead to
the renter being requiring the full
amount for the cost of replacing the vehicle.
- All accidents must be reported within 24 hours and an accident
report form completed. Failure to do this
may result in the insurance becoming invalid and the driver in
charge is liable for all the charges
- All vehicles are insured for a maximum number of passengers.
TRAC cannot accept liability for the
vehicle being unsuitable for all passengers and luggage. As a
guide please refer to the TRAC
website for approximate passenger of the car goups available.
- TRAC reserves the right to redeem the car if any misuse is
suspected.
Additional Drivers
- The rental vehicle is normally only insured for the person who
makes the rental. If others plan to drive
the car, they must be present at time of rental to be added to
the Rental Agreement, subject to presenting a full driver's
licence that has been held for at least
two years.
- There is a fee per driver to cover insurance for each
additional driver over the duration of the rental
- Driver and Driving licenses for additional drivers must be
shown at the start of hire.
- The principal driver remains mainly responsible for the car

Fuel
- Cars on Gozo are supplied with approximately one forth a tank
of fuel which is paid at the current
market price of the fuel. The car can then be returned as empty
as possible
- Pre-paid fuel options for a full tank are available at the
time of rental if booked with the booking.
Charge and Fines
- The principal driver is liable for any fines and court costs
that they incur whilst responsible for the
vehicle.
- The hirer must pay these fines and traffic offences including
towing and clamping to the related
authorities before returning the vehicle and within the
stipulated time unless an agreement with the TRAC is reached
- If these fines are not paid, a €10 administration charge will
apply if we have to deal with these
offences.
Foreign Travel
- Cars may not be taken out of the Maltese islands
- Domestic roaming between Malta and Gozo does not need any
authorisation.
Child / Baby Seats
- We can provide child and baby seats at a charge per day.
Fitting is the responsibility of the hirer.
- TRAC cannot be held responsible for any injuries incurred by
the child during the hiring of the vehicles
and child seat. The principal driver is responsible for the safe
harnessing of the child and the seat to the
vehicle.
Other Accessories
- Satellite navigation systems are available on request
Complaints
- If you, the renter, are concerned in any way with any part of
vehicle upon collection, please report this immediately. It is
difficult for TRAC to assess any claim if this action is not
taken during the hire.
Mechanical Difficulties/Accidents
- In the case of breakdown or mechanical difficulties, you, the
renter, must call our emergency number
immediately. If you, the renter, are involved in an accident,
the local police and TRAC MUST be
contacted. Keep copies of all relevant documentation you are
asked to complete.
